Matthew Lloyd Architects Gingerbread City Overview

Matthew Lloyd Architects took part in the Museum of Architecture's 2021 Gingerbread city: designing, baking (and more baking!), assembling, and decorating the 'Wildflour Town Hall' out of gingerbread, icing, and a banquet of sweets.

The Wild Flour Town Hall raises above the ground plane to minimise our impact on this wild habitat, allowing the existing ecosystem to continue to develop and flourish.

Minimal interventions at ground mould the existing natural and man-made structures on the site into a series of outdoor amphitheatres and gathering spaces that encourage communication and participation both interpersonal and interspecies.

The public roof tops offer opportunities for a more controlled approach to landscaping in the form of roof-gardens and public squares.
